Protection from airborne infections in health AND SOCIAL CARE SETTINGS

This Wednesday 17 April, the Scottish petition – the first of the three UK nations’ petitions on the topic of protection from airborne infections in health & social care settings, will be considered. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
You can watch it live or afterwards on Scottish Parliament TV . It’s to be hoped that they give this critically important topic the attention it deserves and provides a helpful opportunity to debate and initiate much-needed governmental action.

It’s still possible to sign the petition. If you haven’t it would be wonderful if you could. You don’t have to be in Scotland, and what happens here can have a big impact on the other UK nations who follow Scotland’s lead on Infection Prevention & Control.

Submissions include one from the Scottish Government that helpfully summarises their approach and one from Sally Witcher that (hopefully helpfully) spells out what’s wrong with it. Also a @SPICe_Research briefing that I was sufficiently concerned by to write another submission

Here are the Welsh and UK petitions if you’d like to sign those too.

Lives & livelihoods depend on protection from aiborne infections, while the NHS buckles under pressure of avoidable illnesses. How can it make sense, for the economy, education, & public health overall, not to act when action is entirely possible? Thanks for your support!
